As they do every year during Paris-Roubaix, citizens from the town of Bertry post their handmade sign warning cyclists that the first section of cobblestones is now little more than four kilometers away. On these narrow roads that lead up to the first cobbles in Troisvilles, the fight for position is fierce, as position is half of the battle once riders enter the cobbles. Photo was taken by James Startt and comes from Bicycling’s photo gallery of last year’s race.
