Marianne Vos (Netherlands) won gold at the women’s road race at the London 2012 Olympics with a sprint that held off Lizzie Armitstead (Great Britain) and Olga Zabelinskaya (Russia). This is Vos’ second Olympic gold medal after winning the points race on the track in Beijing. After finishing second place in the past five world championships, winning in London was only fitting for the world’s number one woman cyclist. Text and photo from Cycling Tips’ Photo of the Day.
