I spent my summer holiday reading Andy Beckett’s When the Lights Went Out: Britain in the Seventies. I’m a child of the seventies but I didn’t know much about what was going on ‘behind the scenes.’ The book makes for a lively read and dispels some of the myths about it all being ‘doom and gloom’ (although there was some of that).
